Sun of a Beach
Clearwater Beach, Florida, is home to some of the most insanely gorgeous beaches, and we have the awards to prove it. Clearwater Beach has been named by Trip Advisor, Forbes, and USA Today, among the top beaches throughout the years. No surprise to the natives— we know a good thing when we see it.
Clearwater Beach is more than an award-winning beach in a tropical paradise; it's the lifestyle that draws people from around the world to our shores. Active and lively Clearwater is a tropical playground for the lucky residents. There are tons of activities to keep you busy living the island lifestyle.
See the Dolphins!
We said a tearful goodbye to Winter the Dolphin this past year, and we honor Winter by continuing the research and conservation that will ensure we have the dolphins for generations to come. Winter was discovered tangled in crab lines when she was just two months old. The good people at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium came to her rescue and gave her a second shot at life (though the injury eventually caused the loss of her tail). Winter adapted to her new life with the help of a prosthetic tail and a lot of love. This inspiring tale of an adaptable dolphin overcoming tragedy was turned into a hit movie, Dolphin Tale, starring big names like Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, and Morgan Freeman. Thanks to the film, Winter gained international attention for Clearwater Marine Aquarium and the good work they do, with continued efforts to preserve the species for future generations.
Spend the afternoon or evening on the Calypso Queen Cruise, enjoy a yummy lunch or dinner, free beer, wine, and rum punch, and watch the dolphins play. Cruising on the Calypso Queen is a great way to get out on the water and bring the party with you. Enjoy the peaceful dolphins playing with a drink in your hand without a care in the world.
Want a different kind of experience? Check out the Little Toot, a tug boat dolphin tour. The Little Toot tug can go where the other boats can't. The dolphins love to play in the wakes from the tug boat and Little Toot offers a guarantee to see Dolphins or get your next tour free. Plus, it's a kid-friendly tour!
Feel the Rhythm of the Islands!
Let the sounds of the crashing waves get your soul moving to the island beat. Many long-time residents will tell tales of watching Jimmy Buffett play here on our beaches before becoming the legend he is today. He was just another troubadour entertaining the beach bar crowds and looking for his lost shaker of salt.
Good times, good vibes, and good tunes encompass Clearwater Beach annually with the Clearwater Jazz Holiday. There are plenty of local bars and restaurants that provide live entertainment throughout the year to keep the good vibes going year long.

Even Paradise has its Drawbacks

Getting around Clearwater Beach can be challenging. The roundabout and sailboat traffic makes traffic an issue. It's the price you pay for living in paradise. A few great ways to get around and avoid traffic are the Jolly Trolly (offering Free rides March 1 -April 30) and the Clearwater Beach Ferry, which will get you around the beach easily and stress-free.
Native Tips
It's hot here; bring and wear sun protection. It's really hot in the summer, so make sure to drink plenty of water. Did I say hot? I mean HOT, like "your seat belt metal will burn you" hot. You will break a sweat on your walk in the Publix parking lot because it's tropical, which is a nice way of saying it will rain, and then it will be sunny — a typical summer day in paradise. Stay salty, my friends.
