“Sittin' on the dock of the bay…” Otis Redding / Steve Cropper

Safety Harbor, located between trendy Tampa Bay and world-famous Clearwater Beach, is the perfect place to watch a sunrise over the bay. Blink and you could miss the turn to Safety Harbor. Stop and stay awhile; this artist enclave will delight the senses and get your creativity flowing.

Art in nature

Come outside and play in Safety Harbor's parks. John Wilson Park is straight out of a Hallmark channel movie. This park is a hub of entertainment hosting many community events, farmers' markets, holiday tree lighting, and music festivals. Mother nature puts on quite a show, you don't want to miss the sunrise at Marina Park pier. This small waterfront park is a great place to launch your boat or kayak or do a little fishing from the pier.

Safety Harbor has real-life solutions for the active family. The kids want to go skateboarding, mom wants to play tennis, the dog wants to go to the dog park and dad wants to go fishing. Safety Harbor City Park has gotcha covered.

Artists live and play here, leaving their mark on this slice of paradise. Art Park in downtown Safety Harbor is a labor of love from renowned artist, Silas Beach. You will find painted park benches and picnic tables. If you look a little closer, you will see the artist's hands all over this town, from the murals to the bar stools.

This community has deep roots. Phillipi Park is the oldest park in Pinellas County and is on the national registry of historic landmarks. You can see Safety Harbor's history with the Tacobaga Indians at Temple Mound. Well before the art of tattooing became mainstream, the Tacobaga Indians were known to have elaborate tattoos, proving art is in the water here. Come experience the healing waters of Espiritu Santo Springs and take in those old Florida feel-good vibes at the Safety Harbor Spa.

The Art of Chow time

"To me, life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demi-glace, or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living."

Anthony Bourdain

The culinary arts are not to be missed by any foodie chasing Michelin Stars, or anyone seeking delicious chow and a cold beer in a quaint Florida town. You will be delighted with options; for a small town, it’s big on flavor. Experience Gigglewaters, a speakeasy-style venue loaded with surprises and upscale American comfort food. Talk dirty to me… House made butcher block bacon soaked in bourbon and brown sugar, oh baby, it’s getting hot 'n here. As a chic bonus, they have a 32-seat old-time movie theater serving up classic movies and a full menu.

Artists can turn anything into a venue, and the Crooked Thumb is a great example. This converted auto body shop from the 1960s is home to a delightful brewery with 15-20 beers on tap, and live music in a laid-back environment. Got a sweet tooth? Follow me to Joey Biscotti, an award-winning bakery that throws down a brewery pecan pie made with Crooked Thumb's Brewers milk stout and magic. Proving great things happen when artists collaborate together.

Home to the Arts and Artists

“I am always doing things I can’t do, that’s how I get to do them.”

Pablo Picasso

Safety Harbor is a hub for the local artist community. Artists are drawn to this waterfront treasure and have created a community with a twist on old Florida life. Get ready for a little whimsy and go visit the Whimzey Land, a divine creation of colors created by artists for the community to enjoy. Everything can be art in the hands of a gifted artist. You will be delighted to see bowling balls and brightly colored mosaics that will inspire your creativity. The treasures of this artist community are truly the people that have colored outside the lines to create this waterfront gem.

The Art Of Living Well

"When art critics get together they talk about form and structure and meaning. When artists get together they talk about where you can buy cheap turpentine." Pablo Picasso
